What is famous in Virginia?
Definitely, one of the best places is Colonial Williamsburg!! Known internationally as the premier center for the preservation and interpretation of American colonial history.
Those streets deserve to be seen at least once. I had the opportunity to work six years ago in one of the taverns set up in the colonial area Josiah Chowning’s Tavern, and I remember with pleasure even now that summer.
Another great place is Virginia Beach, known for its flourishing local dining scene, arts and entertainment, maritime history, and family-friendly attractions.
Don’t forget about Jamestown and Yorktown’s beautiful piece of art, Mount Vernon, Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive, and much more.
What makes Virginia unique?
Virginia is the home center for the United States Navy’s Atlantic Fleet. It is known as “the birthplace of a nation.”
If you don’t know, Jamestown was the first English settlement in the USA and was also Virginia’s first capital. It was founded for silk cultivation, but after a blight fungus destroyed the silkworm food, sericulturists had to plant Tabacco as a cash crop.
Virginia’s most important cash crop is Tabacco, and most of the people who live there earn their money from the Tabacco industry.
Also, the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, where I had the opportunity to enter a few times because I have a friend who graduated there, is the second oldest in the United States. It was founded in 1693.
If you didn’t know, the first peanuts grown in the USA are also originally from Virginia, and the first Thanksgiving was held in Virginia in 1619.
What can you do in Virginia for free?
